of the World with Steppenwolf and the Chicago Children's Choir at Millennium Park.  Chihsuan has also performed with Howard Levy of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Paul Simon, and on the erhu for The Dalai Lama at his 2007 public lecture in Millennium Park.  She also served as concertmaster on the erhu with Ren Ai, an orchestra of traditional Chinese instruments.

Chihsuan's principle teachers were Cyrus Forough, Stefan Hersh, and Ilya Kaler. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance from DePaul University.
Chihsuan Yang began playing the violin at the age of four in her native country of Taiwan.  Since that time she has tackled an array of musical styles and idioms worldwide including classical, blues, rock, traditional Chinese music, theatre, and performance art.  She has toured throughout the U.S., Taiwan, Australia, Canada, and Mexico. 

As an active freelance musician in Chicago, Chihsuan has also played piano, electric violin, Okinawan sanshin (a Japanese stringed instrument), and erhu (or Chinese fiddle).  She is a founding member of the Accende Ensemble, and also plays with the New Millennium Orchestra and with Grammy-nominated harmonica virtuoso Corky Siegel in his band Chamber Blues. 

Chihsuan's theatrical collaborations include performances with the Lookingglass and Steppenwolf Theatre Companies.  In observance of 9/11 she presented the WFMT broadcast performance of Citizens
