Jocelyn Butler received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Cello Performance from Indiana University, and wrapped up her post-graduate studies at the Chicago College of Performing Arts with John Sharp. She was a member of the Chicago Civic Orchestra for two years, ending her final year as co-principal. She has performed with several great orchestras such as the Aspen Chamber and Festival Orchestras, Music Now, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and the Miami Symphony. She was even recently a featured soloist with the Advent Chamber Orchestra during last year’s concert season. But for all of her orchestra experience, her strongest passion is for chamber music. This past season Jocelyn’s piano trio – part of Chicago’s International Chamber Arts - gave numerous performances through such venues as the Mostly Music concert series, a performance of the Beethoven Triple Concerto in Schaumburg, and a performance/master-class at University of North Carolina – Pembroke, as well as an appearance on the University of Illinois – Chicago’s Chamber Music Series. Additionally they performed for the prestigious Dame Myra Hess Concert Series on Chicago’s classical station, WFMT. Further expanding engagement in chamber music ensembles, she became a member of Accende in April of 2010. Currently she is a member of the International Chamber Artists, New Millennium Orchestra, Advent Chamber Orchestra, Illinois Symphony, and the Illinois Philharmonic. Jocelyn is also an enthusiastic private cello teacher and has studios at the New Music School, Music Connection, and Apostolic Church of God.
